2014 Winter President's Message
The end of another year is quickly approaching! Although our thoughts are starting to turn towards the holidays and spending time with friends and family, the PMI board is still working hard to deliver the member services you’ve come to expect from us in addition to some new ones.
This past summer and fall PMI Manitoba introduced a new networking event. We held three inaugural events to gauge interest and the response from the members has been great. The networking events are just that – an opportunity to spend some time with PMI Manitoba members and potential members – simply networking. The response from those who attended indicated it’s a great relaxing night and a way to talk and meet other members that we often don’t have time for in our traditional chapter lunches. Look for an expanded lineup coming next year.
The PMI Manitoba members voted on an initiative to increase the term of the president and vice-presidents to two terms. The motion passed with an overwhelming majority. The board is now continuing with the restructure of the board and developing new processes and plans to leverage this new structure.
Due to some shifting of responsibilities as a result of the board restructure, we had two vacant positions that needed to be filled. Both the Governance Director and Finance Director positions were filled by appointments.
Please join me in welcoming Glenda Gartner to the position of Governance Director, and Michael Hanna to the position of Finance Director.
