PMI Manitoba promotes the project management
profession in businesses, educational institutions and
professional organizations in Manitoba.

It`s hard to believe that we are already at our summer break. Normally that means no PMI chapter events until September. This year, your board of directors is happy to introduce a summer networking event that is all about networking and socializing for both members and non-members. Keep an eye out for an email with more details about this exciting new event!

We started out this year with our annual Project of the Year awards. We had 5 projects showcased at our POY luncheon and a great turnout of members and non-members at the awards luncheon.

We had a wonderful lineup of speakers at our chapter lunch events and learned about how Cirque du Soleil manages the creative content of their shows, we learned about the challenges of managing a project to supply a shopping mall with geothermal heating and cooling, and we learned how we can meet some of our current project management challenges by looking to the past and taking lessons learned from the building of the first steamship in the 18th century.

Our annual spring conference offered another great lineup of speakers. At our conference dinner, Tim Hague Sr., winner of the Amazing Race Canada, delivered an inspiring message of perseverance and teamwork as a way of realizing our dreams.

My favorite event so far this year was the 20th Anniversary gala organized by a group of our PMI Manitoba past presidents. On May 22, 15 past presidents, 10 founding members, and 70 other members and non-members gathered at the Red River College Paterson GlobalFoods Institute for an evening of networking, socializing, and good food. Congratulations to two of our members who both won a trip to PMI North American Congress in Phoenix, AZ in October of this year.

Looking forward to the fall, the board of directors is excited to share with you some more information around the progress we`re making towards our chapter goals. Our September chapter meeting will showcase a presentation on Intelligent Leadership, our annual golf tournament will be held Sept 18, and our Fall Workshops promise another exciting lineup of speakers and learning opportunities.

On behalf of the PMI board of directors, enjoy our wonderful Manitoba summer, and we look forward to seeing you again in the fall!
